Yes Go Ahead and Shoot Me Again

Not that I wanted my holidays to be a dull and dreary one but oh well. I spent most of my time reading and the remainder smelling sterile rooms.

Bear in mind that this is gonna be the last post before I get incapacitated i.e. floored with CRIB hanging over my head. The MDs are gonna drug me before digging out me aier-ball and attaching some sort of contraption before reinserting the said aier-ball. Makes me feel almost Terminator-ish.

No. I kid you not. I'll be drugged probably in the later part of the morning and out hopefully before sundown hobbling down the Megamall escalators like Jason Vorhees. Then I'll be out for the count for the entire week.

Nothing spectacular really. Nothing interesting to see. Even I myself ain't interesting since I probably won't be able to see you at all.

Getting floored doesn't really bother me. This is like the fourth time in 5 years. I'm only flustered because the MDs dilly-dallied with it. Had they done it sooner, I would've been running around the house by now. I've only got a week before classes resume and timetable arrangements are gonna be out on Tuesday which is going to be another biatch by itself. And I sure as heck am NOT going to miss the first lecture.

Speaking of which, the units I'm packing for this semester sounds cornier than the last semester.

Company Reporting - I'm renaming it to Courting xD
Performance Measurement & Control - Perm Control
Treasury Management - Tram, or Trangement, whatever
Malaysian Company Law - McLaw hohoho

Unless those goons fiddle-dee-deed with my timetable, I should have double lectures on Monday and Wednesday with my tutorials hovering around every other day 'cept Friday.

This in no way satiates countless appetites for a dust-free site but oh well, circumstances prevail. I'm giving myself a week to be up and running again. I was incapacitated the same way a week prior to starting CIMP (you didn't know that did ya? Ngyeh ngyeh ngyeh) and I was firing on all cylinders when classes began. No reason I can't do it this time.

Plus, I've got an award and enrolment ceremony to attend in three weeks *cough cough* and I'll be damned if I don't attend them. No excuses no excuses.

Gimme about two weeks till the next post.

I'll be back.

Just Shoot Me

Yes, I know I've been a lazy bugger and I haven't updated for more than a week and I deserve to be shot. So you can just take gun and shoot.

Regardless, I've been a tad busy the past week doing nothing but SJAM stuff. One division after another. Holidays are for St John only. Yep. And only that and nothing else. For the past two weekends I've visited three different schools, conducting FA exams for three very different groups of members with differing styles of FA. Styles so different that you begin to wonder whether you've been getting it wrong all this while or they've just been getting creative. All boils down to who taught them what. Suffice to say, the 'who's also have very differing styles of FA which makes things worse. We all insist that we're right, myself included but hey, my references come from the FA manual endorsed by the SJA Council of UK. Therefore, I'm still right xD

Moving on, my aim of at least getting into some shape or another except spherical or round or oval tanked on the first day and with that I decided to bring the jogging path to its premature end and go for a walk instead which I can't say is effective coz I'm still as lazy as heck. Probably I'll aim to be like those marathon walkers who are able to gyrate their elbows and hips every step they take.

What other things can be said about the previous week? Nothing really.

Except I'm now like a walking drug cabinet but nothing close to Amy Winehouse.

One Month to Save Myself

After a 6 month hiatus, I've gone back to my old ways of watching anime. I've finally gotten my hands on Full Metal Panic. Looks promising judging by the first episode. I'll try to go easy on the episodes this time around. Don't wanna cut short my viewing pleasure.

And I've finally watched Ladder 49, one of the movies I got during mid-sem break in April.

Starring Joaquin (pronounced Wah-keen, i think. Definitely not Joe-ah-koo-een) Phoenix and John Travolta as our main dudes. Most of the movie is told in flashback where an injured and probably hallucinating Jack Morrison (Phoenix) recounts his past from being a rookie fireman to becoming a hardened veteran. I found the whole movie a very moving one. Probably because I'm under and (somehow or another) related to the ESD as well. Fire rescues aside, the movie speaks more of how each fireman in Capt. Kennedy's (Travolta) department are there for each other every single time. One thing I didn't like about the movie was how why when and where the current fire happened because the last flashback before the movie's final moments didn't really show how it linked to current events. Even weirder than that is how Capt Kennedy, from being the head of his own little FD has all of a sudden appeared at the current scene dressed in off-whites and identifying himself as the deputy chief (I assume that by saying deputy chief he meant deputy fire chief of the particular district they're all in atm). Why then is the movie called Ladder 49? Coz calling it Jack Morrison or Cap'n Kennedy would be plain dumb. Ladder 49 is actually the name of Cap'n Kennedy's little FD's ladder truck. The movie can't possibly be named after the engine truck in Cap'n Kennedy's FD.

Imagine the movie being called Engine 33.

Now that would really suck.

Let the Collywobbles Begin

Not me la, mine's already over. It's the ickle firsties I've been dutifully teaching every week without fail.

It's been fun teaching the little 'uns to say the least. By far, the most, how should I say, entertaining bunch of little critters I've taught for the past 5, 6 years or so. And their enthusiasm for FA is surprising, seeing how FA can be a downright bore especially when it hits the technical areas.

What I do regret about teaching for the past few months is that I didn't really make the class anymore interesting. I didn't have to make it livelier. It was already lively without me having to try.

Out of the 30 or so tiny ones I've been teaching I'm actually quite confident that most of them will pass tomorrow's FA exam seeing how they managed to rattle off the correct answers I rattled off in their faces.

As much as I wanted to be in Seaport tomorrow I can't. Rule is that whoever taught them cannot examine them. Ah well.

Random Ramblings 6

1. First day into my winter break and I'm already dead bored. And I've got 29 days left. The only thing that's really hyped now is Euro Euro Euro. Bah! I've never really liked national team football coz they tend to get a bit boring.

2. Yoong has been incredibly generous and dropped a whole lot of l00t for me this afternoon. Blader pride yo! I was also going to show my not so l33t skillz in combo-ing but I remembered that the screenies are in my desktop. Some other time then.

3. Luiz Felipe Scolari has just been made Chelsea coach. Now this IS without a doubt, the signing of the summer. Next seasons EPL is going to be a blast seeing that Scolari loves to shout from the dugout and his voice can be heard even on TV. He's just as fiery as Sir Fergie, sometimes even more so.

4. Next round of FA exams start this Saturday. As much as I wanted to stay in Seaport, I'm moved to Sri Aman where I'll have to test ickle girls in their FA skillz. I wanted to use the word 'examine' instead of test but 'examine' sounds a bit wrong, especially when it comes to little girls and boys alike =.=" I'll be doing DU and DJ next Sats and Sunday respectively. Should I vent out some of my exam frustration on them? No, I shouldn't seeing that their all first timers. Had it been the EFA or BFA re-exams, I'd gladly whoop their asses.

5. Reading my PM on MSN will reveal an intention to get back into shape after a 2 3 4 5 6 month hiatus. I've got it all figured out. I'm just waiting for the right moment to kick start and that's the problem. Either that or I'll be the Laughing Buddha when Semester 2 kicks off.

6. I thought of taking up rock climbing i.e. the indoors type but I've checked out the prices and their a real killer. For non-members, per entry costs about RM14. Members, in typical Malaysian style, pay special packages at God-knows-how-much for a number of months. Equipment rental is separate and even as a member, you've got to pay rental for the equipment which amounts to about RM2o per use. Really painful. Guess I never was meant to be Dragon-Fly Man.

7. Diamox or however the heck you spell it doesn't make your fingers and feet feel numb, it makes your brain feel numb. Pretty much explains why I've been yawning non-stop. Maintain a lop-sided head and soon I'll be drooling.

8. Mosquitoes are a bloody pain in wherever the heck they buzz around you.

9. I've talked trash for 15 minutes. Congratulations to me!

10. Good night.

4/4 = 1

That's it. I'm officially off for a month. One month of bumming around. No more incomprehensible lectures. No more graveyard-silent tutorials. Countless hours of lazing and snoozing in the sun.

FinMgt wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Studying for it was never a problem. I've always liked the subject and Dr Bala is an excellent lecturer. I might even scrape a D for it if they decide to see my point of view and accept all the tosh I wrote.

AISFM is a different story altogether. Studying for it was mindless torture. The exam itself wasn't all that bad. The only thing that peeved me was how obscurely vague some of the questions were and how they asked questions on one teensy weensy corner of an insanely huge and elaborate chapter. Other than that it was reasonable. The modeling section was more direct than I thought it to be. Only problem was the theory. Y'know la how you tend to ah... overlook certain things when you study. Anyway, if whoever marks my paper sees the logic behind my written horse-dung, I can warrant a pass. Hey, I might even scrape a C.

Predictions for my results come July:

MgtAcc - C, maybe a D
ComBkg - Diao, I'll be happy with a P, but more likely to warrant a C
FinMgt - C is a certainty, might get a D
AISFM - All I want is a P. Anything more and I shall remember and love you forever

One thing I realized about sitting for exams this time around is that The Ten Tenors and Il Divo does wonders to your psyche 30 to 45 minutes before your exam.

And probably some Metallica to drown out the voodoo coming from those people who need to recite stuff out loud when memorising stuff.
